Wear a hat

12 Jan

There we were, at the end of our life,

never thinking that there was life beyond

what we have lived.

Death was just a distance, or sometimes, it was just

a wish.

Now, here we are, in love with everything we missed. Kissing each yesterday good-bye

with a welcoming memory

        to begin each new day;

with a smile, laughter, and a sigh.

I’ll walk the dog. You make the tea.

I’ll peel the orange when I get back.

Put your pajamas on,

go to the bathroom, I’m right behind you.

Oops, oh ya, I’ll go walk the dog.

Is it cold outside?

“Yes,

Wear a hat”.

Love this, ZQ. Just living and loving; life is that simple.

Life is simple, no drama needed to make it interesting. Just living it brings a smile to my face. I really enjoyed reading this. Blessings!

Thank you Brian, as I get older there does seem to be poetry in the mundane.

This poem takes one by surprise … a surprise that is good indeed.

This is beautiful and kind of sad… it’s important to find beauty in the small things isn’t it?

oh ya, i enjoyed reading this. :)
this is a poem (in my opinion) about growing old gracefully, enjoying each day as it comes.
