Bubba doesn’t bite tonight

bluebell books short story slam Love In Creativity Project55 words

My dog has fleas.

I suppose it is inevitable,

being social and all.

His scratching and fur balls

are annoying me.

I have to interrupt this annoyance,

sometimes, with a gentle reminder,

of my heel.

So, like me, with all my faults,

I think, I’ll give him a bath.

Being reminded, I could join him.

Very nice and kind of comfortable and warm, at least to me. Yes, he has fleas, but fleas or not, it’s wonderful to have a friend like Bubba. Be blessed.

I love the comma in the second last line, it highlights the slightest pause between thought and action, the line between good intention and good deed.

I can’t help but think. If all of life was as simple as deciding whether or not to clean and be clean, would the world be wonderful? Is it so simply wonderful already?
