“Summer Children ”

08 Sep

 Seaweed! Seaweed!

Barely surfacing slurping near the beach;

slippery, glittering, splashing Cautiously.

 Tiptoeing. Oh my gosh! eeeeeek!

Sqissshing and running, beach sand flying

behind them, seaweed flapping Flat and silent.

Yellow, white, and green… Pof, Puff, Pooofff

Drift drop drooop.

Dandelion feathers swimming on the breeze

catch them if you can. Get off you knees!

Jiggle-wiggle-jab-jump-clasp n’ bag.

Forget the ones you couldn’t grab.

    Thank you Mary. The cookie aisle in the grocery store and a wonderfully stocked pantry are one of my favorite destinations.

    Sorry for my late response…Buried in task.

    ZQ, I really liked this. Brought back those childhood times. We really have to keep those times alive in our memories for as long as we can.

    Always great to see you in Poetry Pantry!
