Rectitude 2

Together, let us walk through this day,

leaving behind our past as glorious as it has been

or as tragic as it was;

let us go and find  those things

that should have been.

    On reflection one needs to act and claim back those lost years. They may present some opportunities emotionally strong! Wonderful take ZQ!

    “Glorious as it has been or as tragic …” implies the same happening but seen differently. I like that.
    Your picture reinforces this to me also. Many, many, don’t ever come to grips with reality here, feelings of the different generations.

    I like the sentiment, the idea that it is never too late and that we can still find the things that should have been.

    I like this, ZQ. I am all in favor of leaving the past behind and moving on. It is never too late, I don’t think, to find what should have been! Your presence at Poets United is most appreciated.

    Your voice is so precise and measured and you manage to say so much with such careful ease – it is very admirable and contemporary poetry as it should be, I think – all kudos to you.. Always something of a treat for me to read something new from you… With Best Wishes Scott

    Clever use of syntax: ‘has been’ (perfect tense) in the second line, the good feeling carrying through to today in its effect, and ‘was’ (imperfect) in line three, to distance us from the tragic.

    when we come together….perhaps that will be possible, you know…
    moving forward instead of staying mired in what always was…

    Sometimes the obvious thing to do isn’t obvious until someone suggests it. I’m all for it, let’s go.
