On The Seventh Day

10 Aug

“…time comes of the revolution of the heavens and day began with the first revolution.” Meister Eckhart

Thus, every mornings awakening,

Creation’s heaven touches the earth…

Moved from above; Seals the floor below.

Flight no longer a place to go.

All angels, wings clipped for walking,

Appeared on that day forever more.

****

Killing, is the arrogance of creation

Directed towards an empty sky.

Blasting through the earth,

Making shattered holes for souls to sink

Unaccompanied; heaven is unable to grasp

In flight below its floor.

War is too easy to come in but difficult to get out. The reason most times is prompted by greed

it is sad that the killing goes on and on… we live in a fallen world and it becomes more and more visible

We take so much time, energy, and concentration to record our history and never really learn anything from it. We are the angels with clipped wings and one has to wonder if the taking of life is simply the jealous act of hatred (of a far from grown child) toward a supreme being who made us thus.

Kerry O’Connor! Although a writer’s work should be interpreted by many readers experiences and affirmation, You consistently find the my source and the direction I intend to develop in my theme. I do seek universality in my pieces, but you nail them right on.

Greed seems to be a common denominator and I’ve yet to find the cause for avoiding a “middle way”

Thank You, Gabriella. I do think we have the capability to create and destroy, I just don’t understand what someone accomplishes with destruction! Continuous improvement does take into account (with respect) for the existing and compliments it’s continuation, what is discarded is really up to the personal process, I believe.

Thank You, Grace. I just don’t know why the religious choose not to preach their “true” message by example? How do they expect conversion thru brutality? Blind faith… is not enslavement to man! Or woman!

your image of angels with clipped wings is such a strong image. it shows the helplessness one sometimes feels.
this piece is probably about all the unpleasant stuff that is going on right now around the world. 😦

Great juxtaposition of creation versus destruction. Killing is arrogant indeed. I hope the world can see the light & start building instead of destroying! 🙂

Wow! This is really good – It has the feel of Paradise Lost in the grand sweep of angel’s fall and heaven’s locked door. I’m left with the image of man fighting fruitlessly on against hope of salvation.

Just watches the film on fracking in the US. I am shaking. With helpless anger, with utter amazement that something on that scale can take place, unhindered by government and in the face of logic. Our government has just sold our soil to [ probably foreign ] investors to start drilling any old where it seems.
You poem touches on the helplessness in the face of so much wilful destruction.

I often feel like the words in your poem – we awaken in a miracle, but thanks to human folly, it is all downhill from there, especially if one watches the news. I love this poem, ZQ…..I relate to the angels with clipped wings, walking. You and me, kiddo, you and me……

There are many forms of killing. Amongst the worst are the hypocrites condemning the dust motes in the eye of another whilst not considering the beam in their own.
