She comes before dark
Trying to frighten the night
As the sunshine dims

I feel the darker days in these words and am brightened by the candle of dusk.

I love dusk, and lighting candles against the darkness……and my cool electric pretend-fire which looks so cosy and does not require chopping wood – which I did for years in Tofino. (Nothing beats a real wood fire though.I loved it.)

I love the idea of dusk as refrain of a short day, tring to frighten night! Inthe midst ofthis, one shaking leaf waiting for winter doesn’t seem much!

Such a perfect poem of the dark and the light. I always hate when the clocks go back and suddenly it’s dark before 5 pm. I will light a bright candle. 🙂

“Dusk this winter’s eve
Refraining from a short day
Lights a bright candle.” – This is brilliant. Loved it!

huddles below my window
Waiting to embrace the snow.”…..beautiful and sad…
