Strength Is A Child’s Journey

06 Mar

Child, oh child—unburdened before life.

Fallen star from the heavens—

Floating—on water’s golden light.

In that sunrise—

You carry wood, smile, and be polite.

Helpful as ever-present.

You placed yourself— in my heart

And lifted my life’s purpose—carried—

In your embracing arms.

We sit— in our own houses now.

I look at your photograph—loving you—

Remembering— how strong you are.

Oh, to somehow recapture that innocence and newness! A poem to keep in my heart.

This gives me a chill. I sometimes follow that floating light and am jarred by the separate house I now live in.

Love the warmth that come out of these words… and I recognize that bittersweet nostalgia, too.

My very first attempt to write poetry, came after the birth of my third child. Thank you for reminding me of that and why it was so important,

Nice nostalgic mood here. Children grow up but the child never leaves the parent’s heart

Thanks for linking up at my Sunday Lime

    Much love…

I always like it when poets look at old photos and write new poems. You’ve done well!

A very touching poem, ZQ. And I love the photo. Children do grow up, don’t they? And one must remember those times & also reflect on just who it was that helped develop the strength in the personhood they exhibit today.
