Sunday Morning’s Sand
“Sea fence, sea fence— stubborn as sea grass;
Holding back, with space and time— the ocean’s sandy tide.
Or, leaned in fury— holding gracefully
Through foams’ and moon’s —moody seasonal rise.
Waves, roaring in dominance— some, fifteen feet high!
Sea grass, sea grass— tall, white, ever waving
Everlasting— stubborn in raging sea’s might.
Bending graciously— passing each storm
In mutual agreement— as day greets night.
Yes—a welcoming sight— to both sea— and sailor”.
Sing gliding sea gulls
As my feet sink in soft beach
Sunday morning’s sand

I recently visited the beach and your words make me want to return. The painting is lovely and your poem is such a soothing, gentle complement to it. So nice.

it is a beautiful painting, and must have surely inspired this lovely poem you wrote.
loved the “special effects”, the sounds of gulls & waves, at the end of the reading. always a pleasure to hear you read your poem. 🙂

Bending graciously— passing each storm
In mutual agreement— as day greets night.
There seems to be a feeling of comradeship among those connected to the sea,

Another Beauty, ZQ. As an aside, was thinking this would make a great submission for Sea Grass/Sea Oat awareness. When I used to live in Florida, there were strong warnings to not tamper or trample as the grass held the banks on barrier keys and kept erosion at bay.

The sea is a constant lure, whispering secrets, raging then satisfied pretends to be calm. Thank you for reading it to us.

What a wonderful idea…a Tandem Art Show. And the images and words capture the essence of the sea, the fence, the grass all moving in and out with the waves, the breeze, the rhythm of this wonderful poem!

A double treat in here this morning – the beautiful paintings and your words which took me right to the edge of the sea as I read….this is the month of big waves on the coast, which I hope to see at the end of this week. Thank you for this delightful post, my friend. I loved it.
