Waking Up A Writer’s Cramp
You:
Sweet writers! exclaimed! Or, un-exclaimed!
Let your dreams float without utterance
Or sound— above the waterfall’s rainbow of your brain
And it’s frothy, delightful misty vocabulary—
words waiting, hovering beyond intelligence,
to be spelled.
Soul’s wind, embraces them , often to dispel
them Into wispy clouds—
As they carry the words only you can share,
in treasured remembrance
****
Me:
In sleep, recognizing crashing waters
Seeing a person in a barrel who dared to land there,
at the bottom
splintered and torn
For only a dime
Will cost me to be awakened—
I awakened, and paid the price—
with lead pencil in hand
To scribbled away; “I’m OK! Yup! I am OK.
There will always be a place to start.
Beginnings, never end”.
Us:
And so, remembering,
Why we start—
And why, we will never finish.

So profound! And such an engaging, tripping rhythm and yes, so right in saying – we will never finish, because there is no end.

I was completely lost and carried in the magic of the first verse – the idea of catching rainbows and then finding your story – 🙂

For one who often thinks her poetry is finished, your poem strikes a chord!
There will always be a place to start.
Beginnings, never end…
I shall certainly bear these words in mind.
Thanks

This is encouraging. Finding words for poems are like catching butterflies in nets.

Oh how I love this. “I’m OK, Yup. I’m OK”. LOL. I relate! Though it feels like life is a series of endings, in truth it is a series of beginnings………every morning, at this stage. Smiles. I so enjoyed the tone in this poem. Love it!

Gosh! I love the halting, the stop and go of the meter here as you bring together the romantic and the surreal, dream time and real time. May you never finish!
