A Pilgrim’s Egress In A Hundred Words

26 Nov

One leg dragging, the other —behind bended knee

I reverently balance. Wavering from doubt,

I fall prostrate, head on the ground…

Toes need a shoeshine.

I pay homage in acknowledgment, in humility;

Everything is greater than I am.

Womb of essence; ignition of light to life,

Great Lover in wisdom and without gender—

Give me a Faith free of guilt

 Through this chaos of doubt.

 Plume my wings

In my ascent. Unravel my bondage

From this self

In transgression.

The moon waxing,

Reveals an awakening without history.

Greetings soul! Spirit and spark of truth!

Oh, transition in created to creator.

Transitions are hard (at least, for me), but this one seems to be joyous.

oh wow, this is written like your mind is so awakened, so compassionate.
a plea or a prayer? maybe both.
reminds me of what the Buddha said when He was asked what He had gained from meditation. His reply :”Nothing! But let me tell you what I have lost : anger, anxiety, depression, insecurity and fear of old age and death.”

“Give me a Faith free of guilt / Through this chaos of doubt.” this is so profoundly prayerful and honest…

“An awakening without history”… It sounds inviting, and a bit scary to me–I’m not fond of not remembering.

My husband is going on a pilgrimage in Spain next year, Camino de Santiago. He hopes to work some stuff out along the way. I think I will share your poem with him.

plume my wings so I might soar, yet sometimes we must fall before we learn to fly. unravel my bondage. I agree with Sherry, this is one of your best pieces. Truly a poem to read again and again.

Really like it. It reminds me of walking the labyrinth and the meditative state that occurs. Wonderful writing,

This is one of your very best. I admired each word and line…..I can feel the ascent (a good direction, better than the other way. Smiles.) But not too soon, okay? We need you here.
