Notes Found On The Refrigerator August 24, 2017

24 Aug
As an intelligent, compassionate person I cover all the bases of the perceived truths— Before I discover my reality without bias of mind or heart but within my soul— Then, I can begin an argument —open for discussion for covering all our bases— with the illusions of what we have seen.

i have sifted through sand

tripped on stones

slipped on pine needles

have lost my balance on occasion

a few times—  falling

—but never has my path

been more appealing

than the steps before

i am who I’ve been

I certainly am not

who I was— as dust in the wind

as scent in the pines

as tomorrow is in each day

as yesterday—

 is unable to hold time.

You really gave us food for thought with your introspective words, ZQ. We are constantly in flux even when it appears that we’re standing still.

    i am who I’ve been
    I certainly am not
    who I was

Great to have that stubborn insistence to maintain a progressive self to counter such adverse happenings, ZQ!

Oh yes, we are the sum of our experiences, but still ever changing.

Wow, that had me really thinking:
    i am who I’ve been

    I certainly am not

    who I was—
We grow and develop all the time, layers upon layers, always the better for it.

The distinction between who I am and who I was is who I’ve been in the intervening time.

I love your last stanza. It could stand alone as a poem in itself. So much to chew on here; the eternal now, time as an illusion, as each of us being diminished while in the winter of our lives.

    “a few times—  falling
    —but never has my path
    been more appealing
than the steps before” I agree. We may fall but the walk beforehand was worth it. Until we die we are becoming.

These lines are so true: I certainly am not
who I was— as dust in the wind….All the changes we go through in our lives.

This poem really made me think. We are what we are at each moment. Beautiful, ZQ!

    I am who I’ve been
    certainly not who I was

Food for thought….I am percolating these words within my head.
I also believe, we are made up of the many. 🙂
