I don’t want to do the dishes!
Screw it!
I have a saved pocketed packet—
from Wendy’s four for four dollars;
salt and pepper, fork, and a napkin.
I’ll eat out of the can.
*****
They complained I stayed in bed all day.
That’s not true.
I get up to eat
and go to the bathroom.
*****
[Chorus]
I have spent my life pleasing others
Whether friends, lovers, or out of respectability.
I did it without regret for the experiences.

Thank you, each stanza made my smile grow wider, and then become laughter,

Nice closure and then laugh at the end. I enjoy that you (or the character in the poem) don’t take yourself too serious.

“How to please oneself without offending others” – I think we all are trying to find an answer to this 🙂

All of your notes made me smile. But I loved, “leaning to please oneself without offending another.” I have always found, I am most offensive when I am myself.

This is so lovely! And yes one need not always try and please others 🙂

I resonate with learning to please oneself without offending another. These stanzas made me smile. Especially the quacky ending.
