Notes Found on the Refrigerator September 2018
Gossip vs Truth [Koan]
Some sort of melodic minor,
the only note a hummingbird leaves;
fluttering away with the nectar
before the buzz of the bees.
*****
Oh quite down Fido!
You’ll have a heart attack.
*****
A Peaceful Exhale
Sometimes when I deeply inhale,
my body stands still to hear
the soft distant sound of chanting voices,
tuning in rehearsal
for their first and last symphony.
I, as the conductor, seem to arrive late.
However, each time I do the chanting stops
as I search for another apology.
A perfect crescendo in all voices
breaks out exclaiming,
“Stand still,
free refreshments are on the way!”
I take the podium asking all to rise
on the other side, in a peaceful exhale
In tuning.
Epilogue:
Each time when I may disagree,
I take a deep breath and cross over to the other side… another place to go
to understand, to stand, and to carry my thoughts from compromise to truth;
I have found myself on a mutual side, having discarded ego .

Yes breathing .. that too.. deeply.. can calm the nerves and help us think straight before jumping to a conclusion. 💜

I always worry my dog will injure his leg when he starts hopping around and barking like a maniac.

interesting notes, ZQ.
i think sometimes a deep inhale/exhale (we called it count to ten?) can avoid some problems and regrets in the future. and i think “free refreshments are on the way!” would get a lot of attention. 🙂

Once we let go of ego, hatred and anger, life can be a bliss and peaceful.

How lovely! It’s excellent to be wise and just ‘be’ with a smile.

Each time when I may disagree,
I take a deep breath and cross over to the other side… such a glorious though, especially combined with the chanting!!!

To be in the concert or to be the conductor–that is the question. I think I like it both ways.

I love all of these. Beautiful, profound, yet with a sweet lightness too.

Gossip vs. Truth! Whoever would have thought that it would be so hard to tell the difference!

Sometimes I can faintly hear the chanting in preparation for that final concert. Love the idea of you as conductor arriving late, scattering sheet music. That would be me, too.

Oh, this thought of taking a deep breath instead of exploding when not in favor is such a wise practice. It comes with experience — the moment that passes in that exhalation can help in developing a fresh perspective. I love how you portray it as if enjoying this crescendo with a pause.
Well-penned.
