Mindless Scribbling

08 Jul

My heart is balanced with nothing.

Bags of emptiness, once full of expectations,

finally, have become

light as a feather.

There are echoes here of the Book of Ecclesiastes: “Vanity, vanity, all is vanity!”

You make it seem like a relief, as in “lighten up.” Yet the word “emptiness” pulses dangerously mid-poem. Good stuff. As I get lighter (in my heart), I’m finding a love of paradox.

Ah, but isn’t it wonderful to travel light, ZQ? I’m enjoying that more and more as I grow old.

Ah, sometimes it is good to let go of expectations and live in the moment.

It is kind of cool when those bags get lighter. When morning birdsong and a good cup of coffee are Enough. I love this, kiddo.

There are times, I wish my soul was so. Given the grief that we walk through, during our lives.
